For the first time, Euralis employees based in Lescar were invited by the Group’s CSR department to join in World Cleanup Day on the morning of 17 September. Around fifty employees took part, mostly with their families, to clean a plot of land selected with the technical services in the town of Lescar. In total, the volunteers collected 92 kg of waste.
For the fifth year running, World Cleanup Day invited people young and old to take a different look at the area around them and realise, thanks to in-the-field experience, just how much litter there is in nature. Last year, 8.5 million people rallied worldwide and 617 tonnes of waste were collected! In France, 158,000 people took part.
A natural extension of Euralis’s CSR strategy
“At Euralis, we presented this citizen’s initiative to our employees at the Lescar site (Southwest France) and their families. Around fifty of them responded and we worked with the town’s technical services to identify the area to be cleaned. It is a practical way to do our bit for the planet and come together to meet the objectives of our CSR strategy, which feeds into all of Euralis’s activities”, Christine Saenz de Cabezon, the group’s Head of CSR, explains.
92 kg of waste were collected and sorted
A fantastic, educational morning was had all round, particularly for the children present, allowing us to collect 92 kg of waste. This event will be renewed next year and extended to other Euralis sites.
